Why Doesn't the Community Use a Weapon Calculator?

I personally have found the skill calculator extremely helpful for Payday 2, hence I created pd2skills.com in order to be able to handle everything I want to do.

I see people putting so much effort into skill builds while leaving weapon loadouts somewhat lacking in discussion. I never thought about this when I was new to Payday 2, using only the weapon mods I hand, until I started purchasing DLC and realizing that the right weapon mods can really enhance your effectiveness in game.

In Payday 2 it’s all too easy to do too much damage and run out of ammo (thanos) or not enough damage to effectively kill enemies. Both can be equally problematic, but what is the correct balance?

I believe much of this relies on your current skill build. Do you do 25% more damage with headshots? Maybe you do 35% more damage with shotguns, or 50% more damage with pistols? In all of these cases the proper weapon loadout will be extremely based solely on your build. In fact you really cannot recommend a weapon to a player until you first know their build.

Should I build a weapon calculator?

I believe a weapon calculator is a natural fit to add to the skill calculator. Let me know if you’re interested in a skill and weapon calculator fully integrated with each other. That is if you selected a shotgun and had the skill ‘Shotgun Impact’ aced it would reflect the shotgun doing 35% more damage in your weapon numbers. Then you would be able to share your skill build and weapon loadout just like you can share your skill build today, having others from the community critique your choices until you are fully satisfied with your setup.
